I’m a software engineer in Boston with interests primarily in statistical modeling, dimensionality reduction, and backend systems in data-heavy applications. More recently, I have been working on cloud infrastructure with AWS and Kubernetes, but that doesn’t hinder me from working on projects like visualizing U.S. healthcare policy impact on fiscal performance and hacking printers. I graduated from Emory University with Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Economics. In my free time I enjoy rowing, customizing my home linux setup, and sharing new music with friends.

Technical Experience

  • Python Programming
    • 5 years of experience programming in the language
    • Familiarity with scientific libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, PyMC3, Psycopg2, PyTorch, scikit-learn and more
    • Familiarity with infrastructure libraries such as boto3, kubernetes-client, requests, docker-compose, paramiko and more
    • Understanding of pythonic style and comfortable implementing data structures through version 3.8
  • Cloud Infrastructure
    • Provisioning AWS services with automation and templates, particularly with EC2, Lambda, CloudFormation, RDS, and DynamoDB
    • Deep knowledge of how to implement bare-metal Kubernetes and manage cluster lifecycle
    • Security best practices, e.g. writing OPA policies in Jenkins pipelines
    • Certified AWS Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-C01)
  • Statistics and Theory
    • Modern machine learning frameworks (PyTorch & scikit-learn)
    • Dimensionality reduction
    • Bayesian methods
    • Signal processing
  • Other Technical Knowledge
    • Adept with tools and technologies such as Linux, Git, Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, Atlassian products, and Microsoft Enterprise services
    • Moderate experience with languages such as C, SQL, Java, C++ (in descending order of familiarity)
    • Elementary experience with web development (HTML, CSS, Django, JavaScript, Hugo)
    • Detailed knowledge of computer hardware

Projects

I’m in the process of adding more detailed project posts to the website, but until then here are some examples of projects I’ve worked on in the past:

  • Dimensionality reduction in fMRI images
  • Collection and preprocessing of financial data from Alpha Vantage and IEX
  • Chaos engineering for Kubernetes to test cluster robustness and threat modeling
  • Parallelization codebase to execute AWS actions safely with idempotence across multiple accounts
  • Measuring the impact of MACRA legislation on ambulatory practices’ value-based compliance
  • PyTest playbooks for auditing AWS resource compliance for HITRUST certification
  • Forecasting the national interest rate with classical econometrics (ARIMA)
  • Scripts and dotfiles for personal use on Arch Linux distribution
  • Home network lab penetration testing with microprocessors
  • Remote access to printers’ virtual trays
  • Assembly of personal computers

Employment

I’m currently an employee at athenahealth, working as a Cloud Engineer in the Infrastructure as a Service division. My day-to-day focus resides in three main areas:

  • AWS infrastructure
  • Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Modeling & cost optimization
